Amber Flag 2023
The Pieta House Amber flag initiative recognises the individual efforts of primary schools to create healthy inclusive environments that support mental wellbeing. This year, we are focusing on being a good friend to ourselves and others.
On the 13th-16th February, we celebrated Amber Flag Week. On Monday, the children had the opportunity to make friendship bracelets for themselves and each other. The children also engaged in mindfulness activities.
On Tuesday, we planted a tree in honour of the late Jack de Bromhead, who died after an accident at a pony race in Kerry last year. His friend, Sophie O’Connor, spoke about what a great friend he was.
On Wednesday, the Student Council organised a friendship café for all the children in the school. They were able to have some treats and hang out with their friends. Other fun activities also included Lego workshops facilitated by the senior classes.
