Bí Cineálta - (Anti Bullying Policy)
Bí Cineálta which translates as “Be kind” is a new government initiative which prevents and addresses anti bullying behaviour. We promote a culture of empathy, intervening promptly, using restorative practice approaches and implementing policies that create a positive and inclusive environment that fosters kindness among students.
We instill in pupils the important role to play by supporting their peers and the reporting of bullying behaviour. We promote active partnership with parents to reinforce values that discourage bullying behaviour.
Some of the positive steps we have taken are:
We have created a wellness audit to reinforce the positive practices in place and list all of the anti bullying procedures and measures.
We have created and shared a pupil survey (Google Forms) to gain feedback and insight which will aid in target setting.
We have created and shared a parents survey (Google Form)- Analysed data and use this to set targets.
We have created and shared a staff survey (Google Form)- Analyse data and used this to set targets.
We have facilitated pupil focus groups (Wellbeing Committee) and collectively created Student Friendly Bí Cineálta Policy.
We have created a Bí Cineálta information display board- outlining policy, action plan focusing on Key areas: *Culture & Environment *Curriculum *Policy & Planning*Relationships & Partnerships.
We have created a Bí Cineálta Wellbeing tree with following subheadings including the rights a child has Love, Equality, Justice, Education, Play, Friendship, Safety, Kindness & Individuality.
We have displayed Restorative Practice posters on both yards to encourage pupils to resolve conflict respectfully.
